Yves ~ I saw the big yellow Möbius icon for Outlook and I had to comment. After using Entourage for eons, I upgraded to Outlook as part of Office 2011. It fatally crashed so many times that as of a few months ago I finally switched over to Apple Mail and will never go back. I am glad this happened.

According to Wordfast's founder and Chief Architect, Yves Champollion, speed and usability should be just as good on Word 2011 as in any Windows version of Word, thanks to Microsoft's huge speed increase in Word 2011. If you install it on the beta version of Word 2011, you should do a manual installation, not the automatic installation. Namely, go to the "Tools" > "Templates & Add-Ons" dialog box to open the Wordfast.dot template.

Hard to tell, MiGrant. It is as smooth as can be, but there is no way for me to compare apples to apples since I last ran Wordfast on Word 2004 on a 4-year old iMac with 2GB of RAM and am now running the latest software on a 6-month old iMac with 8GB of RAM... We will have to test this with large TMs when both pieces of software come out of beta. In any case, it's promising.

How's the speed of Wordfast with Word 11? I used Wordfast with Word 2004 for a long time, but finally found that performance using a Windows version of Word under VMWare Fusion was so much better, even with all the overhead of running a second operating system, that it didn't make sense to cling to the native-Mac solution. Will that be an issue now?

Dear Yves and TransMUG,
thanks to Yves's inspirational review of the iMac and the friendly reception I encountered at the recent TransMUG meeting I have made the switch to Apple and purchased a wonderful iMac; what have I been thinking all these years? Thanks for helping me to make the switch; looking forward to connecting with you all in May at the next meeting.

Great article. There's a lot of good data here, though I did want to let you know something - I am running Mac OS X with the current beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of flaky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn't function so great.

Good blog. I got a lot of good information. I've been watching this technology for awhile. It's intriguing how it keeps changing, yet some of the core elements remain the same. Have you seen much change since Google made their most recent acquisition in the area?
