I really enjoy reading your blog and since this seems to be the first one focussing on Mac users who are translators – which I am as a student of Technical Translation – I probably have no other choice than checking your blog frequently for new and interesting stories!

Hello everybody; I’m a newby at mac and I’m REALLY lost as I guess we all might be at the beginning! My question is about dictionaries such as Babylon and all the other dictionaries it includes, I can’t seem to find a proper equivalent for Mac, and on the other hand I am a Spanish/English Translator and can’t seem to find how to make my English keyboard, Spanish compatible! Any ideas!!! Thank you!!!

hi from Hellas (or as wrongly used, Greece).
I have great difficulty in finding reliable and documented opinions on the compatibility/ease-of-use of Trados on Mac (I am about to enter the Mac world, since I really can’t find a good reason to stick with MS).. And ypour comments on that topic hepled me more than 4 hours on the phone with friends and colleagues.. Keep it up..

I’ve just set up Parallels on my MacBook and now I’d like to be able to use Trados. I currently have Trados 7.5 on my Dell PC laptop. Is there a painless way to transfer Trados or install it in Parallels and share the license between the two computers?

This does not seem to have much recent activity or activity at all. I found a card in the Macworld MUG room today with no email contact nor have I found one here, so I will try a post.
Have you considered expanding this to the natural intersection of translation and computers, localization? If you had a place for we developers to post small jobs and a place for people looking for localization work I think you might see a lot more activity here. This is a good concept for a site.

Great idea, James. If you have some localization work, please send a description to me. We can add a Jobs page. I have been quite busy this past year and hope to resume contributing. I haven’t been able to find more contributors in our 80-member base so far… In the meantime, I have constantly shared articles of interest in the “From Other Blogs” section. Not completely dead…

Hi, I am an NCTA translator who is about to start learning CAT/TEnT tools (like Trados) but I have also hoped to make a jump to Macs. I am waiting for Windows 7 to buy a new machine. Is there any possibility of Mac/TEnt compatability?

Good blog. I got a lot of good information. I’ve been watching this technology for awhile. It’s intriguing how it keeps changing, yet some of the core elements remain the same. Have you seen much change since Google made their most recent acquisition in the area?

Great article. There’s a lot of good data here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Mac OS X with the current beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of flaky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn’t function so great.
